On August 14, 2018 our administrative assistants, Nancy Azpeitia and Yahaira Gonzalez, had the privilege of touring the CORE El Centro building with the Executive Director and Co-founder, Madeline Gianforte. During the tour Nancy and Yahaira learned about the different services CORE offers to those with limited resources and/or without medical insurance.
CORE is a nonprofit organization that opened its doors on January 2, 2002 in a well-known building called Esperanza Unida, which is located on the south side of Milwaukee. Currently CORE is located inside the Clock Shadow Building at 130 W. Bruce Street in Milwaukee.
CORE offers healing therapies to people interested in wellness and prevention, people who are experiencing anxiety, depression or stress, people with chronic problems, cancer survivors, and individuals with special needs, among others. All services are provided in English and Spanish. In 2016, CORE EL Centro offered help to more than 5,200 people. Of those people, who are between the ages of 5 and 82, 79% are Latinos and 75% of them are women.
We are proud to announce some of our clients have participated in the services CORE offers and as a result, their lifestyles have improved.
Some of services and programs CORE offers are the following:
- Acupuncture
- Therapeutic massage
- Holistic exercise
- Yoga
- Zumba
- Ballet for children
- Tai Chi
Not only CORE El Centro is attractive, but so is the building since 50% of the materials that were used to build the building were recycled. Some of the building’s features include a great garden located on the roof, a passive solar system to heat the building, and energetically efficient computers. The building’s elevator is the first in the country to use innovative regenerative technology to create energy from its use.
CORE attributes its success to all the professionals, such as acupuncturists, yoga Instructors and therapists who volunteer their time in order to help heal more people through natural means. Volunteers serve in many capacities such as communications, graphic design, fund development, law, and all those who help maintain CORE clean.

El día 14 de Agosto del 2018 nuestras asistentes administrativas, Nancy Azpeitia y Yahaira González, tuvieron el privilegio de recorrer el edificio de CORE El Centro con la Directora Ejecutiva y Cofundadora, Madeline Gianforte. Durante el recorrido Nancy y Yahaira aprendieron de los diversos servicios que este Centro ofrece a la comunidad con bajos recursos y/o sin seguro médico.

CORE ofrece terapias curativas a través de diversas formas naturales a personas interesadas en el bienestar y prevención, personas que están experimentando ansiedad, depresión o estrés, personas con problemas crónicos, sobrevivientes de cáncer e individuos con necesidades especiales, entre otros. Todos los servicios son brindados en Ingles y en Español. En el año 2016 CORE El Centro ofreció ayuda a más de 5,200 personas. No solo CORE El Centro es atrayente, sino también el edifico ya que el 50% de los materiales que se utilizaron para construir el edificio fueron reciclados. Algunas de las características del edificio incluyen un grandioso jardín localizado en la azotea, un sistema solar pasivo para climatizar el edificio y computadoras enérgicamente eficientes. Incluso, el ascensor del edificio es el primero en el país en usar tecnología regenerativa innovadora para crear energía de su uso.
CORE atribuye su éxito a todos los profesionales, como acupunturistas, instructores de yoga y terapeutas que ofrecen sus servicios voluntarios para poder ayudar a sanar a más gente de una manera natural. Voluntarios ayudando en muchas capacidades, tales como comunicaciones, diseño gráfico, desarrollo de fondos, leyes y todos aquellos que ayudan a mantener CORE limpio.
